Are you a detail-oriented Cost Controller with SAP experience looking to play a key role in financial governance and cost management? This is an excellent opportunity to support critical business operations by delivering accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and procurement control.

Our Client has a requirement for a Cost Controller, who will be required to work on a contract basis inBarrow-in-Furness

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Cost Control Lead, you will support the delivery of robust cost control processes across the business. The role will involve managing cost reporting, forecasting, procurement activities, SAP administration, and Procure-to-Pay processes to ensure accurate financial management and alignment with operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver cost reporting and cost control across designated spend categories and establish baseline budgets.
  • Support the preparation of monthly accruals and OPEX forecasts.
  • Maintain cost trackers and assist with month-end close activities.
  • Extract and analyse SAP data, including Value of Work Done (VOWD), liaising with Finance teams and Job Responsible Engineers (JREs).
  • Perform variance analysis against budgets, forecasts and business plans.
  • Support reviews of contract cost reports, identifying risks, waste and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct timewriting analysis and follow up on outstanding timesheet submissions.
  • Support and maintain Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
  • Raise, review and manage Purchase Requisitions.
  • Review and maintain Purchase Orders, ensuring accuracy and timely closure.
  • Verify Purchase Orders are correctly coded and compliant with company procedures.
  • Process service entries for invoices and proformas within SAP.
  • Review Change Order requests and ensure Purchase Order uplifts are approved before work commences.
  • Support reviews of rental and hire equipment utilisation to identify opportunities to reduce spend.
  • Participate in internal and supplier meetings to support financial governance and cost control activities.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with SAP.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • HNC in Business Management or working towards a relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience within Finance, Cost Control or Commercial Administration.
  • Experience within Operator and/or Contractor organisations in the Oil & Gas sector would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost control and Procure-to-Pay processes is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple business functions.
